Aregnaz Martirosyan began her musical journey as a pianist, eventually discovering her true passion in the field of composition.

After successfully graduating as a pianist from the Romanos-Melikyan Music College in Yerevan, Aregnaz pursued her studies in composition at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan from 2013 to 2017 under the mentorship of the composer Vartan Adjemian.​

In 2019, she moved to Lucerne, Switzerland, to study in Dieter Ammann's composition class at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. This new environment provided her with further opportunities to develop her artistic voice and refine her musical skills.

From 2023 to 2026, Aregnaz studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where she pursued a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy with a major in piano under the guidance of Stefan Wirth. In recent years, Aregnaz Martirosyan has gained international recognition for her compositions. She has received commissions from renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Basel Sinfonietta, the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra, the Intercontinental Ensemble Amsterdam, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

In 2027, she will receive a composition commission as part of the Lucerne Festival’s “Roche Young Commissions.”

She has also collaborated with various ensembles, including Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt am Main, JACK Quartet, and ICE Ensemble New York, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Blattwerk Quintet, Intercontinental Ensemble in Amsterdam, Hover Choir Armenia, etc.

​Her works have been performed at numerous festivals and concerts both in Armenia and abroad, including the Othmar Schoeck Festival (Brunnen/Switzerland), International Young Composers Academy Ticino, (Locarno/Switzerland), Lucerne Festival (Lucern/Switzerland), DAVOS Festival (Davos, Switzerland), GAIA Festival (Thun, Switzerland), Musiksommer am Zürichsee (Rappersiwll/Switzerland), The Rachmaninoff Song Project by the Villa Senar Educational and Cultural Center (Lucerne, Switzerland), Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Munich Biennale (Munich/Germany), Alpentöne Festival (Altdorf/Switzerland), Darmstadt Summer Course (Darmstadt/Germany), the New Music Days (Lucerne/Switzerland), Zeitgenösische Academy (Lucern/Switzerland).

​Aregnaz Martirosyan has been recognized multiple times for her outstanding achievements. At the International Music Competition "Sayat-Nova" in New York, she received the 1st Prize as well as the "Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra Award" in 2018.

​In 2022, she qualified for the prestigious Composer Seminar of the Lucerne Festival Academy. Her ensemble piece "501-2" was performed by graduates of the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in Frankfurt. This composition was also selected for an Ensemble Modern concert in Frankfurt, where it had its German premiere in December of that year.

Aregnaz Martirosyan has enriched her musical education by participating in master classes with renowned composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Heinz Holliger, George Aperghis, Krzysztof Penderecki, Hans Thomalla, Franck Bedrossian, Claude Ledoux, Jean-Pierre Deleuze, Simon Steen-Andersen, Stefan Prins, and Franck Yeznikian.
